It is a province in the Central Kızılırmak Section, at the foothills of Mount Erciyes. It is surrounded by Yozgat to the north and northwest, Sivas to the north and northeast, Kahramanmaraş to the east, Adana to the south, Niğde to the southwest, and Nevşehir to the west.
